Chinese foods
Typical meal in Tianshui (L-R) fat noodle soup, bamboo shoots, green vegetable w/out English translation, cauliflower, another unidentified green vegetable with eggs.
Noodles with beef and bok choi in the city of Suzhou
During this business trip, I was served many interesting foods including:
1. silk worm maggots
2. smoked duck neck with head
3. roasted pigs feet
4. fish larvae soup
5. fermented "stinky" tofu
6. carmelized eel
7. corn smut
There were also some beverages which I do not typically drink:
1. hot coconut milk
2. hot orange-ade
3. cucumber juice
4. carrot juice
5. chrysanthemum tea
And there were numerous dishes served where my hosts couldn't (or wouldn't) give me an English translation, so I didn't know what the heck I was eating. More often than not, there was no beverage available with or after a meal. It left me thinking "can I get a Coke Zero around here?" No?
