Cutting the Cake

5 years old

The birthday girl, ready to make a wish.

The cake. The lake and river are hard candy that I made on the stove. It was supposed to be clear, but took on a yellow tint, which then gave a emerald hue once I added a touch of blue food color. Ice cave is made of sugar cubes. Lodge is graham crackers and Golden Grahams shingles. Tree is tootsie roll trunk with green icing. Who remembers apricot penguin gummies? I had to special order these babies.

Glow-in-the-dark bounce session...hard to photograph!

Bounce U Party

The Bounce U party was a huge success. This is my favorite photo, right before Pepe pelted the kids with candy. For the whole album, click here.

Cake

This is supposed to be a Hawaii license plate. I downloaded "license plate" font, printed it out, put waxed paper over it, and traced the letters with black icing. Then I dried them out, froze them, and transferred them to the iced cake. The rainbow is colored sugar, which is causing issues with the lettering as they do not want to stay in place. Hopefully it will remain legible after I drive it over to the party tomorrow. The hula lady thinks not.
